GARY MARLOWE
Much acclaimed for his otherworldly synthesizer works, Gary Marlowe is a minimalist and explorer.
His new main project is „ECHOES OF SPACE“, introducing revolutionary 3D Audio in a live performance, co-produced
with Grammy winner Hans-Martin Buff (immersive audio specialist with Peter Gabriel). A sold out 2023 world premiere
at Teatr Lasznia in Kraków, Poland, featured Gary Marlowe, Mirjam Skal and The Fantastic Laura B as soloists.
Gary Marlowe began playing piano at four, turned into a synthesizer prodigy in his teens, became a No.1 hit songwriter, and a Gold Record winning music producer. Following studies in Ethnomusicology in Berlin, he studied Composition forFilm at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, Italy, with Oscar winners Luis Bacalov and Nicola Piovani.
Gary Marlowe´s vision of “beautifully human sound worlds” has informed a body of work that encompasses recordings
with progressive metal bands Coroner and Rage, sharing the stage with Iggy Pop and The Ramones, composing for
minimal art master Richard Nonas, and performing his compositions with orchestras, like the Brussels Philharmonic.
Among his many scores for film are award-winning features “Everything Will Change” (with Wim Wenders), “Lautlos”,
and “Planeta 5000”, the series “Inside the Stones” (with Nine Inch Nails and Moby), legendary “Tatort” (with 10 million viewers), and the documentaries “The Milk System”, ”A Place called Los Pereira” and “Alcohol”.
Recognitions for his works include multiple nominations at the Jerry Goldsmith Awards and the Hollywood Music in
Media Awards, a nomination for Best Music at the German Documentary Film Music Awards 2018, and a nomination for
the Grimme Preis 2019. In 2020, Marlowe was nominated for Best Music at the Crystal Pine Awards, and “Planeta
5000” won the Spanish Premios Simón. „Everything Will Change“ opened the Zürich Film Festival, and won the Max
Ophüls Preis in 2022.
The artist dedicates much of his time to research, and the development of unique, interactive music installations, with
international exhibitions including the Biennale di Venezia.
Gary Marlowe officially received the title “Steinway Artist”.
Marlowe is a Berlinale Talent Alumnus, a member of the World Soundtrack Academy, and the European Film Academy.
